Winter Storm Safety: Clearing Snow Around Your Home

Jan 26, 2026

After the heavy snowfall, clearing snow around your home is an important step in staying safe and warm. We’re asking tenants to take a few moments to check the areas around their home.

Heat Pumps

If your home uses a heat pump, it’s important to clear snow from around the outdoor unit. When heat pumps are buried or blocked by snow, they cannot operate properly and you may lose heat.

Exhaust Pipes and Carbon Monoxide Safety

Please also check any exhaust pipes exiting your home and clear away snow. Blocked exhaust pipes can cause carbon monoxide to build up indoors, which is a serious health and safety risk.

Snow Clearing

Tenants are responsible for clearing snow from driveways, walkways, entry points, and the sidewalk in front of your home. . Keeping these clear helps prevent slips and falls.

If You Need Help Clearing Snow

If no one in your home is able to clear the snow, we encourage you to reach out to family, friends, neighbours, or local community groups for help. Unfortunately, Circle is not able to provide snow-clearing assistance due to lack of staff capacity.

Maintenance Requests

Due to the storm, our maintenance team is currently experiencing a higher volume of calls and requests. If you need assistance, we appreciate your patience as we work through issues as quickly as possible.

Thank you for helping keep your home and Circle community safe during the winter season.
