Circle’s Fall Updates: Sharing Knowledge and Building Community

Oct 29, 2025

This fall, our Circle team has been busy representing our organization inside and outside the province. This season has been full of opportunities to share our work, exchange ideas, and strengthen our partnerships within the sector. Here’s what we’ve been up to:

Ivy at the CNCLT Conference

Ivy, our Director of Communications and Tenant Engagement, proudly represented Circle at the Canadian Network of Community Land Trusts (CNCLT) Conference. Ivy led the From Organizer to Owner: Real Talk on Property and Power panel. This session explored the experience of shifting from housing advocate to landlord, and navigating the complexities of that identity-transition.

Alia at FutureBuilds

Our CEO, Alia, took the stage as a speaker at the FutureBuilds XP Fellowship program for Toronto’s housing leaders of tomorrow, focusing on enhancing the leadership skills of early-career Black professionals in the non-profit housing sector. The fellows bring a range of experiences as policy-makers, community organizers, real estate professionals, designers, front-line workers, tradespeople, entrepreneurs and individuals with lived experience in the community housing sector. These leaders are committed to unlocking affordable housing solutions that serve the diverse needs of Black communities across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).

Alia and Shreya at the GCCA Symposium

Over the past year our CEO has been a member of the advisory group for an OCADU Global Centre for Climate Action project. Last weekend, that project culminated in the BMO Climate Action Speakers Series symposium called The Understory: Art in the Climate Commons.  Alia and our Capital Projects Coordinator, Shreya, co-led the Rooted in Conversation: Community Climate Resilience session In this workshop, participants took part in a facilitated walk, and explored questions on the themes of sustainability, housing, mutual aid, and building connections with neighbours. Participants then documented their experiences in a collage exercise.

We are proud to see our team sharing and supporting knowledge transfer, and building connections across sectors!
